Learning to Teach Online Through an Online Certificate or M.Ed.

This session introduces participants to the International Graduate School of Education (IGSE) Programs in which candidates improve their leadership skills, teaching skills, and technology skills, while gaining understanding of new approaches to solving important educational problems. The Programs prepare teachers, technology leaders, and administrators to effectively plan and implement virtual, digital-age learning environments.

The curriculum is designed to develop each candidate’s skills and competencies to develop exciting, empowering, exploratory environments that focus on student engagement in the learning process.

 

The IGSE Learning and Teaching in the Digital Age™ Certificate and Master of Education Programs offer three tracks designed for educators are various stages of their careers:

  • Teaching and Learning
  • Curriculum and Instruction
  • Administration and Leadership

All tracks require a capstone process that enables candidates to demonstrate proficiency in digital-age learning and teaching, and provides candidates an environment to fully plan, design, produce, implement, and evaluate an instructional product or institutional solution that demonstrates their understanding of the concepts, skills, and theoretical framework of the Learning and Teaching in the Digital Age Programs.

 

After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the offering of the International Graduate School of Education
  • Compare their goals with the offerings of IGSE
  • Decide whether IGSE offers professional development opportunities aligned with their professional development goals

Component of the IGSE Programs include:

  • The IGSE Learning and Teaching in the Digital Age™ Certificate Program includes two foundation courses, two elective courses within the chosen track, and the capstone project. Upon successful completion of 15 hours of coursework, the candidate is awarded the Learning and Teaching in the Digital Age™ Certificate.
  • The IGSE Learning and Teaching in the Digital Age™ Master of Education Program begins with the candidate earning the IGSE Learning and Teaching in the Digital Age™ Certificate.
    • M. Ed candidates must then complete four elective courses not previously part of their Certificate Program. Candidates may enroll in elective courses from any track.
    • Finally, the candidate must design, develop, and implement an M. Ed capstone project. Upon successful completion of a total of 30 hours of coursework, the candidate is awarded the IGSE Master of Education degree in Learning and Teaching in the Digital Age.™
